GRHRCH
UH Dakota's Cajun "Roux" MH crossed the Rainbow Bridge on October
17, 2007. We thank all our friends and family that have offered
their thoughts and prayers through his illness and forward. Your
kindness has supported us through some very trying times. We
appreciate your expressions of love and caring.
Most
sincerely, Ronnie and Connie Prudhomme
GRHRCH
UH Dakota's Cajun "Roux" MH stands a tall, statuesque 90 lbs. of dark chocolate.
His incredible power and drive explosively deploy him from the line of every
retrieve. With exact marking and expertly precise handling, he runs fast, hard, and determined to and from every retrieve.
He carries presence, style and accomplishment; Roux is a natural. This remarkably strong, athletic dog
has paced progression beyond measure - and is only beginning.
A mere three years of age, Roux boasts: a Grand Hunting Retriever Championship title;
a Master Hunter title; third place winner and bronze medal from Mack's Super Retriever Series;
and, over 500 UKC points. He is proven as a top-contender, setting records such as
the youngest dog to pass the Spring, 2004 Grand Hunt test in Bryan/ College Station, Texas and the youngest to receive
a GRHRCH title in the Fall, 2004 Grand Hunt test in Bowie, Texas. To date, he remains the only chocolate and youngest dog to
ever qualify for the Super Retriever Series Crown Championship - proudly placing 10th.
Read the article, Cinderella-Roux, written by Craig P. Menard, M.D.
and published in Hunting Retriever Magazine (February/ March, 2005
edition) about Roux and many of these events.
Unique and
first
are words synonymous with Roux: he was the only chocolate born of this black
lineage breeding with sire, GRHRCH Missy's Cajun Dakota MH ("Cody"), and
dam, HRCH Gabby's Star of Bessie. Roux is a third generation Grand Hunting Retriever
Champion. His sire holds many
historical records: 2002 World Duck Dog Champion; most HRC Grand Hunts passed
(13); 2003 Super Retriever Series silver medalist; 2003 ESPN Great Outdoor Games
bronze medal; and, second place in the 2004 World Duck Dog Championship.
In January of 2006, Roux welcomed the cast and crew of WaterDog TV to a duck/goose hunt in Gueydan, Louisiana for
an episode to be aired in the Fall on OLN. Producer,
Shannon Nardi, was kind enough to share some digital images taken of the event
and extended her
kindnesses in allowing us to share: visit Roux's WaterDog TV Hunt. We will include video clips as soon as we have the same.

Challenging records and setting new standards in all venues of participation is
a specialty of Roux. His accomplishments include:
Roux is owned by Ronnie and Connie Prudhomme. His trainer is Bill Autrey of Autrey Kennels. Believed to be the first
handler to pass with both the oldest and youngest dogs in a Hunting Retriever Club (HRC) Grand Hunt, Mr. Autrey
has been a progressive foundation for much of the sporting dog world as defined today.
